What We Believe

A Summary of What We Believe

1.

There is one God in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

2.

God is sovereign in creation, revelation, redemption and final judgement.

3.

The Bible, as originally given, is the inspired, inerrant and infallible Word of God. It is the supreme authority in all matters of belief and conduct.

4.

Since the fall, the whole of humankind is sinful and guilty, so that every individual is rightly subject to God's wrath and condemnation.

5.

The Lord Jesus Christ is fully God, co-eternal, and equal in being with the Father and the Holy Spirit.

6.

The Lord Jesus Christ, God’s incarnate Son, is also fully man; he was born of a virgin, and His humanity is and was real and sinless.

7.

The God-man, Jesus Christ, died on the cross, was raised bodily from death by the Father in the power of the Holy Spirit, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father, reigning over heaven and earth, and interceding for all believers.

8.

Sinful human beings are redeemed from the guilt, penalty and power of sin only through the volitional sacrificial death on the cross, once and for all time, of their representative and substitute, Jesus Christ, the only mediator between them and God.

9.

Those who believe in Christ by faith are pardoned all their sins, accepted in God's sight, made new creations and given eternal life, only because of the righteousness of Christ credited to them; this justification is God's act of mercy and grace, received solely by faith in him and not by their own efforts.

10.

The Holy Spirit alone makes the work of Christ effective to individual sinners, enabling them to turn to God in repentance from their sin and to trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.

11.

The Holy Spirit lives in all those he has regenerated. He makes them increasingly Christ-like in character and behaviour and gives them power for their witness in the world.

12.

The Holy Spirit gives gifts to believers in this present age for the building up of the Church and the exaltation of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

13.

The one holy universal church is the Body of Christ, to which all true believers belong.

14.

The Lord Jesus Christ will return in person, to judge everyone, the living and the dead, executing God's just condemnation on those who have not repented, and receiving the redeemed to eternal glory.
